I was watching a college hockey game the day on tv and a noticed that “Coors Beer” was painted under the ice. This made me think about ideologies of different sports. I find it strange how we simply accept some sports as having party boys and bad asses. Nobody flinches when they see a hockey team being sponsored by a beer company. Of course everybody expects them to be wilder drinkers. However, I wonder how the public would react if that very Coors’ logo was painted under the ice during a figure skating competition. I can almost guarantee there would be several complaints and a huge controversy would arise. I feel like having a beer company sponsor a sports team, it advocates drinking to those athletes. If younger hockey players watch the game they may think they too need to drink in order to be as good as Crosby or Gretzky.
