Collective desires

After class on Monday I started to think about our collective desires as a societal group in respect to heroes. As Valentine’s day came and went, I realized we all seek happiness and love. However, as a woman, I have also realized that the media has tainted our views of love. Movies and tv shows are constantly showing men being over the top with romance but that’s just not realistic. Unfortunately, women have collectively formed this idea of romance and love but when their boyfriend/lover/husband or whatever, doesn’t meet their expectations of Hollywood love, they are often left disappointed and often times angry with their significant others. Prince Charming is the ideal hero who rescues Cinderella from her evil step mother and sisters.  As much as women don’t want to admit it, they really want to be rescued. But in reality, men are busy and can’t rescue us. The media has left us expecting roses every time we fight, or just a spontaneous romantic action. Media has given us a false fantasy of romance, love and heroes
